A secret smile unfolding
In the shadows, by the barn
She creates new communication
With her silk as thick as yarn
*
But not to save a friend
Or a lost naïve, young pig
She writes to tell the world
Of the crimes the farmer did
*
After Wilber and his Charlotte, had quietly passed on
A violent crime spree soon began in that quiet farming town
People started disappearing with no traces left behind
There were No witnesses around or clues of any kind
*
Charlotte’s children caught on quickly
That the farmer was a dog
He took the money that he made
From that jolly little hog
*
He dug some holes around the lot
Filled them with concrete and some lime
Built a secret little room
Out behind old Wilbur’s sty
*
The Sherriff came to call
Following tips he had received
But he never found a thing
Leaving the farmer’s mind relieved
*
But when the morning sun arose
The dew lit up, like diamonds in the sky
Telling the tales of the farmer
And how his victims died
*
They tore that barnyard up
And were shocked at what they found
A slew of missing people
Buried in shallows all around
*
The moral of this story:
If you have secrets you want to save
You’d better treat for spiders
Something proven to work, like Raid
