Secrets

The Poison Of Plastic Love

Those dirty little

secrets -

the ones, hidden in the mist

kept away

a waft in drift

from unwitting

dwellers

in the fray

****

exhalation

lost in limbo

wander - gliding

like a vapor

just a thought

a memory

slipping

through a veil

of danger

****

discontentment

on a path

escaped the gates

of hell

prying eyes

deceitful -

cover up

the ne'er-do-well

****

intentions - stirring

the stench of

the piqued

and disillusioned

doubts arising

meets the end

of bleak -

amidst confusion

****

lonely is left

when innocence

comes face to face

with knowing -

no one gets

away unscathed

when secrets revealed

are showing

****

no amount

of mist can hide

the ultimate undoing

when all along

the only one

fooled

was the one

doing the fooling

sad poetry

Secrets may keep as may deceits for a little while, but the rot will fester & the truth will eventually out.

  • Oooo, that last part hit so hard! Fantastic poem!

Very nice. I've been interviewing an author friend of mine to help him with his memoir. We sometimes trade stories about secret things in life, deceptions. We're both big fans of The Who, and he keeps citing key lines from their song, "Eminence Front": Sun Shines People Forget Spray Flies Speedboat glides People Forget Forget they're hiding Behind an eminence front" The point of the song is, everyone lies, everyone hides. So much they forget they're doing it. Your real hair color, your baldness, the way you look at someone, the way you're bored with someone. Conversations hidden. Secret meetings, even where you just talk. We're all hiding.

This is really good, it liberally buzzes with intensity!

What a way to define a 'secret' from the who and what.
