He is violet
Like the night sky
Just before the day light
A Love so deep it takes up a whole colour
With the sunrise comes summer
We were drunk on each other
As the new year past
We sat under exploding stars
Ziggy Alberts on his guitar
Playing from your pocket
You held out your hand and said
Every pretty girl deserves to go to a ball
You pulled me close and we danced
It was a drug fuelled romance
With the sun came spring
We bloomed with the flowers
From a seed planted long ago
we picked their pedals
and asked
does he love me?
Does he love me not?
We built a home
more of a construction site
For what could have been
Winter was cold without you
I wrapped myself up in your jumper
Tangled in the thought of you
God I miss summer
I feel my bones crack in autumn
Like I’ve fallen asleep
Becoming one with the leather couch
I need to stretch and release you
I don’t need your help
I don’t need your time
I don’t need your friends
I need more wine
Face masks and bubble baths
in the name of self care
dye my hair
shed my skin
wash my eyes
till their clean
till they are mine
and not the eyes
that held your violet light
By next summer I’ll be fine without you
Much to do at twenty two
“Hi, how are you? X”
A hello
But it wasn’t you
And as the new sun peaks over the horizon
The day is bright once again
But I’ll still wake up before it rises
Too watch that violet sky fade again
I’ll Say goodbye, to my violet sky
when today becomes tomorrow
P.s.
Tomorrow never comes
