Fantasies and fairytales

ride wisps of wind on frosted sails

Gathering on limbs and windowsills

welcoming icy, winter chills

Farewell kisses to autumn eves

a hint of frostbite in the breeze

Remnants of fall, with fallen leaves

as slumber comes for undraped trees

Golden and red specks take a peek

of the icy realm, from underneath

The thin milky layer blanketing earth

the season of her afterbirth

Bringing to life, a frosty glow

a frozen numb before the snow

Preparing nature's seeds to grow

and mysteries she has, unknown

A gentle walk into the seasons

one to another, with pure cohesion

Without a precious moment lost

the slumber comes with winters frost

Loved this Kelli. It flows back and froth like the change you describe. Great job.

Just simply beautiful way to describe the coming season and all that comes with it. Good work.

Delightful and elegant. "Afterbirth" is a perfect metaphor. It all flows/reads with a mysterious wholesomeness. True romance in this. ❤️

  • What a beautifully written ode to a wondrous season.

My favorite lines are the last two: "Without a precious moment lost the slumber comes with winters frost" There are times the desire to sink into that cold and sleep is so strong... well. You explained the beauty perfectly.
