I’ve shared a kiss or two before, or three or maybe four.
But none of them compared to yours which leaves me wanting more.
It was slow and sultry, wet and warm and it took my soul away,
To a place with only you, a place I wished we’d stay.
Although the kiss was silent, there were so many things it said.
I listened to every word I heard, holding on as it was read.
I want to take care of you, it said, with everything I know.
I want to love and cherish you each day as our love grows.
I want to be by your side, it said, as you face your greatest fears.
I want to give you butterflies and speak sweet nothings in your ears.
I want to share in your dreams, it said, nothing’s too big or too small.
I want to be your lifeline, I’ll catch you if you fall.
I want to be your lover it said, and I want to be your friend.
Given the chance, I would prove it to you, over and over again.
As I listened to everything it said, I began to understand.
Why my heart was at ease and I didn't freeze when you reached for my hand.
From across the room, where I saw you, nothing was ever the same.
I prayed to the Gods above that you would change my last name.
Then I gave you my hand at that moment, and everything felt right.
We danced and passed the night away, making memories under the light.
That was long ago, yet my heart still glows, thinking of our first kiss
I wouldn't change a thing about it, it left my heart in a bliss
So if someone asked me to describe how I felt that night,
Just know that I would tell them, that I loved you at first sight.
About the Creator
Tamara Miller
There's so much power in words. That’s why the pen is MIGHTIER than the sword. I’ve always loved writing. For me, it was the easiest (easier) way to express myself. So excited that I found this space to explore my creative side. Enjoy!
