Another in my thought-provoking senryu series.

even misery

its contemptibility

hates your company

Thanks for reading!

Author's Notes: I was thinking of the famous phrase "misery loves company" and then thought about tipping it...because sometimes...when I'm at my lowest, I think even misery hates my company. Curiously, the image was created by putting the full senryu into NightCafe's prompt box. Felt it was very fitting. I also felt it fit in with the scratches in my mind series.

A poignant twist on "misery loves company," reflecting deep personal struggle and feeling even despair rejects companionship, resonating with raw emotion.

Clever work, Paul! Hope the misery has moved on and fell asleep somewhere or even got lost and can't find its way back. But I know it will. It's too damn greedy! Hope you're feeling better today! And congrats on your TS!

An amazing short poem! Especially in our moments where we hate ourselves, and convince ourselves that no one wants our company, not even the things that are slowly killing us from the inside out… A brilliant take!

Ugh yes. That viscous cycle of misery. Its like an insidious and contagious self eating rash!

He did it! He's back on the front page! And in less than 24 hours!

  • Hannah Mooreabout a year ago

Yeah. I get this. I tend to think that too. Even misery doesn't bloody love my company. Just hangs around cause it enjoys hating.
