Scattered Rocks and Shells
a poem inspired by climate change and sustainability

The land is barren, bleak and bare
No sign of life, no creature there
Just remnants of stones and shells, scattered around
A silent graveyard, from near and distant ground.
Once teeming with life, the earth’s blessed floor
Now empty, desolate, forevermore
The wind crashes on, with such mournful sound
A requiem for the life that was once found
The sun sets low on the horizon’s line
A final farewell to a world divine
The remnants of rocks and shells, a reminder true
Of what once was, and what we must renew
For though the land may seem forlorn
The earth’s depths still holds life, to be reborn
So, let us cherish, protect, and restore
The beauty of the earth’s sacred core.
