Scars

A Poem

By Nikki HamiltonPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

This is a story of a girl lost in her pain

Who searched far and wide to remove the stain

The traumatic imprint that tainted her heart

That almost nearly tore her apart

The girl who searched high and low

To find any way to move beyond it and grow

To somehow forget that deep sense of shame

When though innocent she bore all the blame

The girl who became a woman still lost in her way

Still trying to move on and not get caught in the fray

To be someone who mattered not lost in the throng

To be someone who fit in, someone that belonged

And that woman eventually found a great love

Beyond what she knew like it was sent from above

It healed her heart and it healed her soul

It was unconditional and warm not cruel or cold

Though the pain of the past was still very much there

She no longer has the same wounds to bear

The wounds have become scars that some may see

But she uses those scars to help others get free
