Save Us A Seat.
From my book, "Walking With Grief."

When I picture you, I see you on a porch, sitting in a rocking chair. You have a book in your hand, but you're looking out at the nature in front of you. You're whistling with the birds, your foot moving to the rhythm. Your blue eyes match the color of the bright sky. Some of your dogs are lying by your side while others are running in the yard, enjoying the sun. You are happy, and your mind is clear. There's a skip in your step, and your strength is almost overwhelming.
That's how I picture you because that's the kind of person I always thought you were—someone who came from the heart of Mother Nature and carried on all the love she had for her living beings. I'd like to think that she is cradling you close to her and you are now free to have everything you've ever desired, including that mean old rooster who now sits in the shade of your trees, enjoying his life knowing that he will never be harmed.
So when you think of us, I hope you know that some of our days are heavier than others. Sometimes the rain is more intense than the heat of the sun. The grief can weigh down on us, and nature becomes a blur. But we all know that you are there on the dreary days just as you are on the sunny ones. Sometimes we all just get a little lost, that's all.
But we all know that you are there wherever we go, and even when we can't feel you, your presence is still overwhelming in the earth around us because you came from her, and you are there with her again.
So no matter how dreary our days get or how heavy the grief for us down here gets, I will always picture you sitting on a shady porch with your beloved dogs and talking to your loved ones who come in for a visit.
Save us a seat, for we will all find our way to your porch someday.

So beautiful! I needed to read this. May is coming and it's my worst month of the year with Mother's Day and the anniversary of my mother's passing. Greif is still strong.
