If I was a color.. Well I would be-

By Kash MulaaPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

My melanin is full of rich soil that I plant within the seeds of green.

Green you are me therefore only a select few like me like broccoli.

I love broccoli btw

I would tell you that my favorite color is yellow, but I do not feel so bright on that level.

Yet I have energy that can charge up a soul like how the sun charges me.

But I truly feel like purple really defines me.

Let me tell you why, you see purple is a rich color and stands for royalty.

But the purple that’s inside is really hurting me.

Just like 50 shades of blue well hello mine is purple.

Matter of fact, it’s fuschia.

Wait, isn't that color closer to red?

I have that burning fire inside from sleeping on a mattress bed; I had to walk a mile just so that my family was fed.

But everyone sees that I glow differently.

Is it because of my name?

Well let me tell you that I'm B-L-A-C-K everyday.

I get reminded of it where I stay, when the kids shout out “gang gang”.

I told myself maybe if I write something quick, I could get picked.

The tears are forming as I write now.

Hoping that you can read through the lines now.

But what color do you see?

Because how I’m feeling right now is burgundy.

My little sister told me to keep writing.

She said,”Kash go chase your dreams

Remember the first color I told you?

Well I’m trying to get to that green.
