Sand, Thread, Shells, Coins, Now What?
Day 17 | 25 Days of Poetry Challenge
Learning the time of this world takes time it
Always lasts longer or shorter than you'd like
And what you want is of no interest...
There's
A bit of a language barrier maybe
Between us
that used to be sand and thread
Now it's annoying, loud timers instead
And planners with quotes that say to take "your" time
You don’t even know what that is! How dare they!
“I have no time to find time!”
No time for questions
Your honor
No further questions
You honor
Time.
Time in coins: now
Time in shells: before
Time in: what now?
Time makes sense when you're sad and mad and glad
And you didn't get what you wanted (from college, your parents, your lover, whatever..)
Or you got it (just in time in the mail and such)
Express shipppppppppppppppppppppppppppppping
Swallowable time
That fits in your hands
Time that dances to your tune
And never breaks from the script
You write to control time
Get to know each other!
You don't have to ‘get’ something always!
This poem is part of a series of 25 daily word experiments I am committing to for the month of October. The motto: “Sometimes garbage, sometimes sweet, not fun everyday, but everyday anyway!” Intrigued to experience what can be created (and discovered) in the process of developing a consistent writing practice, I will be writing a poem a day until my Vocal+ subscription ends at the end of the month. Let’s gooooo!
