Salute

Freedom’s Not Free

By Earl W. PearlPublished 3 years ago Updated 3 years ago 1 min read

Who gives me the right to write what I write

Who answers a country in need

Who are the ones that keep watch overnight

Who are these soldiers indeed

Who jumps at the chance to defend how we live

Who’s first to charge into the fray

Who's giving their all until no more to give

Who’s risking their life for a way

Who's caring for those that return without limb

Who wins when the budget reverts

Whose bills go unpaid as their benefits trim

Who's getting what congress diverts

Who marches on when it could be the end

Whose family sustains them with love

Who’s putting themselves in the way for a friend

Whose God sees it all from above
