Salty Lungs

Day 39/365

By Ellie HoovsPublished 11 months ago 1 min read

The depths of me

have always been one

with the sea

Her waters a mirror

that reflects my myriad

of mystery

the way of her waves

flows in my speech

with a humor dried by the salt

from each breath I breathe

and I have learned

to ebb and flow

to rise with the tide

and to appreciate every shore I touch

whose sandy home

isn’t mine.
