Salty Hair

The pain of loving and losing an addict.

By Tracy Rose Published 6 years ago 1 min read

Acid in my lungs

And it’s all begun

I’ll be dead on the count of one

But it gets to three

As I cry on my knees

Why

Why

Oh why

Would you do this to me

Memories burn through my lugubrious mind

Morose and mistreated frozen in time

Two tick three tick four sudden halt

Grinning from ear to ear but falling apart

Invisible scars make me seem fake

Wounded and bitter burned at the stake

Evil from your teeth but eating the food off my plate

Wouldn’t save you now even if it’s your fate

You’re vanishing now it’s never to late

I diminish to air

Salt flows through my hair

What is life, if it’s never fair
