Bunched like wires pulled from a box,
muscles and tendons,
pulled taut over brittle bones.
I am made of dust,
held together by spite and willpower alone.
Drip, drip, drip -
it leaks from the tank,
from heavy eyes,
pools unseen like ink from a shattered well.
"how are you? You look tired,"
Say it with an inverted smile.
Oh really?
How can you tell?

I'm reading a lot of different author's stories today. This might be my favorite of all the dozens I've read! I love <<held together by spite and willpower alone.>> I love the drip drip drip The last four lines though are what make this so different and so magnificent!!! Literally, I gasped and chuckled at the same time when I got to the final line, then told the cat on my lap, "Oooo! This is awesome!" This is the perfect length for the sentiment conveyed too. It hits all the harder because of the brevity. So cool!!! ⚡ 💙Bill ⚡
This was so poignant. Hope you're doing okay. Sending you lots of love and hugs ❤️
