Run stranger run
Chasing a spectre

Where are you
Where can you possibly be
What hiding place keeps you from me
I know you are there
Know you must be close enough to touch
No great distance between us
A tissue
Wafer
Gossamer thread apart
Our hearts beat as one and have done
Since we were born
A lifetime I have searched
Only to miss you at each turn
What evil hex conspires
To keep us apart
For each time
I think I have caught you
So leaps and bounds ensure
Your distance is all the more
Than ever before
Sometimes I think I imagine you
That your existence is false
Unreal make believe
Just a shadow
A spectre
Of course
Then I find again I am close
To closing in upon you
That last corner
A last breath before
We meet
I and I

I especially liked the image of the distance being just a "tissue, wafer, gossamer thread" away. That's a very clever way to show how close yet far the goal is. You did a great job conveying that internal struggle.
Great work. We should all face ourselves to see our true meaning some way as in that last line eye to eye (I and I).
Oh wow, that revelation at the end made my eyes go wide! Brilliant take on the challenge!
I really like the sense of mystery and yearning in this.
Why are these lover keep being apart?
