A Poem

Today’s prize,

tomorrow she will cry

and continue to spread the lies.

I have watched from afar seeing the disaster unfold

doomed from the start

as old wounds have not yet closed.

Destruction

follows in her wake as she breaks the heart

of all who desire her,

for she cannot love her own reflection

and instead reflects herself in others.

Do not trust the hands that so willingly feed,

eager to be a savior

but cannot blame herself for her own misbehavior

when all goes awry.

Do not expect apologies from her either,

like expecting a dam not to be built by a beaver

waiting for truth or something real

is futile.

Save yourself while you can,

before her rot sets in

and you’re stuck with a hole in your heart

created by her.

She is the monster we are warned about as children,

and you managed to make her fall in love with you.
