Roots and Branches

How my life grows

By Reb KreylingPublished about a month ago 1 min read

My roots are buried deeply

In lands I’ve never seen

But I feel their call and I know

Some day I’ll walk the greenery

That calls my name.

*

For now I spread my branches

As I follow my roots

Learning, teaching

Making connections

Between the past, present, and future.

*

My branches are above me

My years of writing, teaching

Connections I’ve made with others around me

My roots are below me

The heritage I’ve discovered.

*

My tree grows tall and strong

Everything in my past rooting me

While my future grows above me

My tree is me and mine

The ground my roots are in calls to me.
