I Looked Back

Orpheus's thoughts

By Reb KreylingPublished about a month ago 1 min read

I led the way out of hell

But I looked behind, I didn’t look ahead

As I walked, I tried not to dwell

*

As I walked, I tried not to oversell

What our life would be overhead

I led the way out of hell

*

I led the way, I didn’t compel

She made her choice, with her own head

As I walked, I tried not to dwell

*

I led the way out of the citadel

Back towards our homestead

I led the way out of hell

*

I didn’t want to leave her in that holding cell

Letting her stay to be misled

As I walked, I tried not to dwell

*

I wanted to trust she would follow me out of hell

I shouldn’t have looked back and trusted her instead

I led the way out of hell

As I walked, I tried not to dwell
