Roots and Branches

A poem

You can see the shape of branches

Cut into the lines worn on faces

You can see the color of leaves

Bloom in the shades worn on skin

~

You can see the naked limbs of a tree

If you look at the winter winds blowing

Through the depths held in eyes

You can see the light of a spring leaf

If you look at the warmth glowing

In the shine of a smile

~

You can see what they call pretty

With just a fleeting glimpse

You can see what this world calls ugly

With just a passing glance

~

But, if you're looking to see

Real beauty

You'll have to look below

The surface

To see the roots

That formed the tree

So very true, to find real beauty, look deep beneath the outer layer. Love this poem a lot.
