Roots and Branches

My mindset makes it easy and meaningful wherever I live.

Life is an adventurous journey, a river.

We start somewhere, and end somewhere.

As an immigrant we feel it strongly.

I come from orthodox rural India

and now live in suburban, liberal California.

So many changes, one would be shocked.

But I didn’t.

Since childhood I have developed a mindset

which acts as my guide.

Wherever I live,

learning, creativity, nature appreciation

are life priorities.

Whereas gratitude, resilience, mindfulness,

adaptation, empathy are values I follow.

My roots were in East, now branches in West.

But I am not confused, by the differences,

I bloom where I am planted,

I love the land I live, and forge bond,

I see the issues, and raise awareness,

I contemplate life in solitude

I flow seamlessly, staying true to self,

roots and branches are connected.

We all make our peace in living our lives no matter the location. Adaptation is the key. Good job.
