Roller Coaster Ride
A Poem on Navigating Life's Challenges
If you’ve been on Disneyland’s Space Mountain, you’ll understand why this dark, seemingly monstrous roller coaster encapsulates life.
Life is overwhelming, like one of these rides. It has its quirky twists and turns. Navigating them can send one, literally and figuratively, into space.
Support from others, a little flexibility, staying grounded (knowing the distance), and protecting oneself by crafting contingency plans moves us through tough times.
Enjoy this Etheree poem. Like the Nonet, it is incremental, meaning that the number of syllables increases per line until the end when there are 10. If you’ve got the Nonet, you’ve got this! Give it a go!
Tracks
Narrow
Rife with bumps
Broken, splintered
In the exposed car
Clutch other souls tight
Barring in for the flight.
Bend as the faulty car loops
Judge the length of the rusty rails
Craft a plan when the fraught engine fails
Free your breath when the ride comes to an end.

Well done! 👍
Wow, they ought to put up a challenge! No rides for me and even your poem made me feel woozy. Great job and very visual.
So creative. Love it
I've only been on a roller coaster once. Never again, lol. Loved your poem!
