You sit,
You stand,
Glass against your hands.
Trapped,
Inside.
Robbed of time.
Robbed of energy.
Robbed of sleep.
Robbed of creativity.
Robbed of peace.
Robbed of control.
Robbed of inspiration.
Robbed of motivation.
Robbed of happiness.
Robbed of empathy.
Robbed of life.
Tie a rope,
Down a pill,
Take a bullet,
Grab a knife.

Author's Note: I drafted this during a time when I felt extremely lost. As someone who struggles with anxiety, I often find myself stuck in negative downward spirals and periods of depression. This poem is dark, and I have never felt as hopeless as the last few lines would suggest, but I acknowledge that many others have and continue to have these feelings and thoughts every day. Mental health awareness is incredibly important. This is just a piece of my experience and hope it resonates.

Very powerful piece, Alyssa. The use of "robbed" was an interesting one, it definitely carried the feeling of emptiness but also that there is a perpetrator responsible for the stealing of what was once there
I used this picture as well. What was the prompt?
