Road of the Unknown

What I've learned

By Spencer DrummondPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

I'm on the road of the unknown. I know how to drive. Always singing along to Taylor Swift, every lyric memorized. But I drive away, leaving all I once knew. All the firsts and impossible, all the false and the true.

I know my family loves me, I'm about to graduate. And even though I'm leaving, I continue to procrastinate. Like getting ready for school or not filling the tank with gas. I know it's very bad, but life's moving too fast. Going 200 miles per hour, I don't know if I'll endure. At least I've got my cube, I know that for sure. It's a tricky little puzzle, but just keep messing with it. You gotta respect the hustle, I have to admit.

I know sunsets are beautiful and lightning is warm. I know a rainbow will always appear after a storm. I learned how to backflip, though I've failed a couple times. But I kept going, much to everyone's surprise.

I know X is a variable and is always the unknown. Through all I have learned, I know I have grown. X can be whatever you want, it's your choice, your future. I know people are good and will help others, it's just human nature.

I know dogs are a man's best friend, always by our side. I know I would help the man on the street, I would give him a ride. It may not be smart, but most people are good. Gotta take some risks in life and that's understood. He's got a sign saying "anywhere", and that's his variable. I hope he can find it or I will feel terrible.

I know how to speak Spanish, like "hola" and "como estas". That just about sums up all I've learned. So "adios" and "gracias".

Yet I continue to driving on the road of the unknown, searching for more things to learn so I can look back and say, "Oh how I've grown".
