Rivers of Denial

Global warming isn't going to solve its self.

Flow to me like our destiny depends on it

Feel the water rush through your veins not leaving room for tomorrow

Watch your voice crumble beneath the earth's surface

Swallowed by its aquatic hue

Taste the sand, entering your body as you fail to stay afloat

You remember the cold open breeze,

Its fragrant aroma gushing through your lungs

The once nostalgic scent that you so often took for granted

You plead and beg to the world, but you can feel it no more

A crash landing of denial hits your bare face,

Inhaling every bit of hope left in you

Forcing your fragile body into the earth's fiery crust

You didn't think for a second not even a moment,

That melting ice was really to blame

You never even considered that day you so casually smoked beneath the oak tree, scrolling mindlessly

Never paying any attention to what was happening before you, as the world continued to crumble

Breaking apart for only your faults

Why should they suffer?

Why should they drown for they did no harm

Why must they endure the pain just because of our desires?

Open your eyes.

We can't do this alone.
