Rise

Get out of bed?

By Sharon GentryPublished 8 days ago 1 min read

RISE

Do you ever feel like you don’t want to wake up,

But you hate being asleep?

Like the day ahead is too much to face,

But sleeping through the dark is a waste?

Like getting out of bed is an impossible task,

But falling asleep is nothing but an ugly mask?

Like you’d rather sleep through the day than face the light,

But you’re more than ok being awake through the night?

Like if you open your eyes, you'll be afraid of what you see,

But closing them hurts, trapping you in a place you can’t flee?

Like if you leave your bed, something terrible will occur,

But if you stay and rest, your dreams won’t leave you feeling secure?

Like if you choose to rise, you’ll be making a mistake,

But choosing to sleep means missing what matters, and soon you’ll be too late.
