Riptide

A nonet, also an apology to friends who couldn't do it for me <3

How long did I paddle his riptide,

waiting for someone to save me?

They knew: desperate souls drag

samaritans down, too.

They could only watch

from the shore, pray

I find the

break, then

fight.

Love the connection between a toxic relationship and someone struggling to stay afloat in the sea. “ desperate souls drag samaritans down, too.” is great Suze 👏🏾

Gosh. This is so very deep (excuse the pun). You've managed to encapsulate so much in so few words. What an excellent entry!

I was caught in a rip tide once. It’s a brilliant and apt metaphor for untangling from an abusive relationship. Absolutely wonderful entry for the challenge.

Oh, ouch, Suze. Sublime doesn't really seem fair to say, or right. I'm sorry you endured this, but glad you got through it. Also, that you are writing about it in such a powerful and eloquent way. Well done. (In other news, I am still trying to formulate a story based on your photo in Mackenzie's challenge - as I was assigned yours)
