i can’t sing
they can’t fucking play
you wanted to see us
you had to pay
in it for the money
we don’t care about you
you make us sick
so watcha gonna do?
(do you feel cheated?)
i couldn’t get a job
so they kicked me off the dole
now i’m stuck
rotting in this suburban hole
Malcom was inspiring
he showed me what to do
someone has to pay our way
it may as well be you
(do you feel you’ve lost?)
we formed a band
four talentless yobs
getting paid to be obnoxious
it’s better than having jobs
so take your fucking nine to five
and shove it up your arse
cause we’re the fucking future
and we aint got no class
(i ripped you fuckin blind)
you thought we were good
you thought we were great
you bought all our records
and now its to late
we ripped you off
robbed you with out pity
and this our thanks
tough fuckin titty
(and i couldn’t give a toss)

I wrote this after deciding to fuck christmas I was going to watch the Great Rock and Roll Swindle and no I do not want to look at the fucking lights! I remember the date real well. After it was over and the ruckus from downstairs had died down I grabbed a pen and paper and wrote that. Further to this; it actually got music a few years later and was performed at various shit venues in and around Brisbane Qld.

I have a small portion of this run on a sort of old VHS recording in my mind on repeat several times a week. Then it ticks over to "The more you wanna learn! The less...."
I'm sure after you wrote this poem at that time, you felt at least a tiny bit better. Loved your poem!
An early Brenton piece! This is a treat though! Lots of fire in these here words!
