Riotous Heart

A Plea

Wicked, dark and riotous heart,

learn to love what loves you back.

Learn to fall for what will catch you.

Jump — don’t fall — and don’t look back.

Nothing back there but what breaks you,

nothing back there but what hurts you.

Poor, dark, broken, dirty heart,

you don’t know how to clean up.

I won’t judge you anymore.

Won’t condemn you for before.

I will try to understand —

you were lost and hurting then.

Don’t fall,

God holds you in His hands.

Here, we missed a spot.

Here, let’s try some shine.

Here, it’s not so hard.

Here, I’ll guide you right.

See? It’s nice in here.

See? It’s beautiful.

See? You’re loved for real.

See? No, don’t be scared.

Oh heart, don’t run away.

I know it’s familiar,

but please just stay.

No need to be dirty, broken again.

You’re cleaned up,

you’re healing.

I know it still stings —

it will be okay.

Today’s a new day.

Aww, this one’s got such a tender vibe like a heart finally learning to breathe again 💖 beautifully done! Sometimes healing starts with talking kindly to yourself.

There’s a quiet redemption pulsing beneath this poem a dialogue between the wounded and the divine, between the sinner and the sanctified. I’m struck by how it treats the heart not as a vessel of shame but as something being lovingly restored. The progression from “dirty, broken” to “cleaned up, healing” feels like a soft resurrection.
