r.h sin...healed mine pt.2

If you've never heard of r.h sin,
one, I made a poem about him, which is pt 1 to this pt 2, if anyone’s interested to read that first.
Two, he is a black feminist poet from New Brunswick, New Jersey.
Three, he has a wife who also writes poetry and they have a beautiful baby boy together.
Why r.h sin?
Besides his undoubtedly support for women and their struggles when it comes to romantic love and self love, his poetry itself is also what deeply inspires me.
It's Like He Understands
When I pick up any one of r.h sins books whether it’s “I hope this reaches her in time” or “she’s strong but she’s tired”...it’s like a feeling of peace flows throughout my body. It’s like that moment when you swear no one in this world understands...then you bump into that one person, and all the advice they’re throwing out at you, translates too one big “I understand.” That’s what I feel when I pick up a book by r.h sin...understood.
When my eyes skim over his words and process them in my mind, it doesn't just feel like reading...it feels like a conversation. You know, like when you tell your friend “omg I can’t believe he did this” and they would say something like...
and if you're friend wouldn't say something like this because you're both on the same boat, don’t worry r.h sin’s books got you covered. Seriously though, his books are like a conversation on the phone with a friend, inspiring women to move on.
He Wants Women To Put Themselves First
Although a lot of his books are about a women moving on and forgetting a man that doesn’t deserve her. Within that he encourages women to move on from their low self worth, constantly reminding them...
to put themselves first.
Like a Sore Thumb in This Generation He Stands Out, Ouch!
Another reason why I find r.h sin to be a black creative that I find so inspiring is because of his uniqueness. It’s rare now a days to hear a black man using his voice to empower women. In an age where there’s rap songs and some r&b songs that could careless to portray women in a decent light...r.h sin stands out. He’s like a breathe of fresh, loving, poetic air in a polluted city of “let’s disrespect women for streams.”
For every...
"man, shes crazy"
"man, she's extra"
"man, she too much"
r.h sin has a...
reassuring and applauding women for their ways...that may be seen as opinionated, boisterous, emotional, or overreacting.
Lastly He Inspires Me As a Writer
As a person who is in love with poetry, I admire having someone like r.h sin to look up to in the poetry community. His words are beautiful, simple, yet profound. His words also make a huge impact. Flipping the passages to his book, like I said it's a conversation, a constant reminder. In a compassionate yet very real way, he's looking out for the well being of women through his work. It's like he's nudging you with each poem. In every book he makes sure to emphasize just how worthy women are of properly loving themselves and of receiving the proper love from others. I would consider his poetry to be a form of self help...because with each little poem, with each little nudge or reminder, he’s encouraging women to let go of the toxicity, even that of their own, and begin to help themselves. I hope one day through my experiences to be able to have an impact and connection with readers as I have had with r.h sin.
