If I admitted that I loved you
Would this come as a surprise,
I can feel it in my heart now
You can see it in my eyes.
***
I tried to keep telling myself
It’s nothing more than a crush
But I’ve felt this for some time
And it’s never hurt this much.
***
But you are like a wild animal
With your need to be free,
I need to be cautious here
Or you’ll scare easily and flee.
***
I don’t want to cage you
Like a animal circus act,
I want you to admit freely
It’s me you want to attract.
***
I won’t remove your freedom
Or make you feel tied down,
You’re the head Ring Master
And I’m just another clown.

About the Creator
Colleen Millsteed
My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
