Ribcage

what tardiness teaches

Ribcage by Emerson, link to available platforms below.

the Devil wears angels’ faces;

inevitably, I gave in.

he handed me flowers,

yet underneath they were poison.

fabricated speeches

convinced me of his

fabricated reasons;

in reality, there was only one.

i’d forgotten the times and places

and the oh so many cases

where I’d sit for hours,

telling myself that soon he’d come.

but tardiness teaches

there’s a lack of his ‘Sincerely made reasons.’

i wish for the day that I run.

when Holy Blood spills over, when you see it causing stains,

you have realised that the price was too much for you to pay.

Ribcage

haunting time goes upside down,

you're late.

you're running around,

you're late;

so go back to your town

and wait to find my soul has been undone;

it's begun.

I feel my heart be torn apart

and, and, and...

my ribcage breaks out to reach out to you

and hold you like I'm s'posed to.

I hunger the grasp of you as my oxygen.

I screamed your name

down under in a desperate state,

climbing

to meet at a tranquil place.

pushing me down deeper,

oh I can't breathe.

I need you close to me.

'cause my ribcage breaks out to reach out to you

and hold you like I'm s'posed to.

I hunger the grasp of you as my oxygen

but nothing sinks in.

oh do you think of me there anymore?

'cause I'm dying of a heart that's now yours.

oh you sing to the world

now that you've lost your girl,

but I've grown cold.

I'll stay in this room to grow old.

do you feel my aching soul?
