Rhapsody in Blue

An Acrostic Sonnet

Remembering the blues before they died

Having been green and purple for a while

Athena smiled in my mind with soft pride

Pleasing a thought of a nymph with some guile

Sounds abound in the silence of the trees

Oscillating towards a recent past

Dionysiaca* in blue with cheese

Yesterday will forever remain passed

In and out of my chest she dances bare

Nothing on except the not-for-me words

Before Greece she displays the finest hair

Letting the music play without the thirds

Undeserving of her love or respect

Every blue is fading up to deflect

* Ancient Greek epic poem and principal Nonnus piece (5th century CE).

-----

Dedicated to no one alive. There is no point, then.

“What about the Cosmos?”

It is too freaking vast for a dedication and I hate Mars.

“The Sun? The Moon?”

To the stars who died long ago too.

Somehow the music feels red and loud, not blue. But I love the words Rhapsody in blue/ lovely.
