Can we pretend it never happened
Make believe that we’re ok
Admit it’s not what we imagined
Another world another day
Taking a walk through all the memories
Letting them all just fall away
Some with struggle, some go gently
Each one carving out their name
We’re captive to the pain around us
Feed it till the world stops
A false sense of impending justice
Surviving as the next shoe drops
The last sand in the hourglass
Sifting through, biding our time
A witness to the moments passing
Clinging to love like simple rhyme
Each longing for that special something
The unwavering flame of love’s embrace
Leaving us waiting, hopelessly wanting
To be tangled with love, face to face

So beautiful, Kelli <3 <3
Ah, to be so entangled. What a blessing indeed. What a desperate longing should it be forestalled.
I think we all just want to be liked and loved one way or another. All we can do is take one day at a time and try to understand. Good job.
Well-wrought! Whether we go forward or back, we go.
This was so deep. Loved your beautiful poem!
Beautifully-written Kelli! 🌸
