Respect

About women 's ongoing desire for equality

By Jayne McClurePublished 4 years ago 1 min read

Well you had better respect me

Or you won’t hear the end of my attempts to educate you,

that I am equal

You may repeat something you’ve heard

Like ‘ we are all droplets making up the ocean.’

But do you really feel that?

And while we may all be equal

The sea foam is a different part of the wave

To the rest

So, you had better respect me

For my similarities and my differences

And for the fact that I let you into my intimate world

When so many I could not.

And I know about the secrets you share with your own gender only

When you thought I could not hear or understand

I heard and understood

And I saw what you did

And what you lost

Now your hunting days are over

And I should leave the past behind

But only if my name is cleared

And I am recognised as equal

And truly respected

And I always see through the empty placations

That you say without research

So search

And you will find the reasons to respect me

That are just overwhelming with plentitude
