Resilient Banyan sapling
Tenacity is necessary to thrive

Resilience is a virtue
that we all need.
Life situations change
in the blink of an eye.
If we don’t have tenacity,
we break like
a fragile vase.
So preparedness and adaptation—
the ability to bounce back,
to thrive in negligence
like a dandelion—
is necessary.
Being resilient
is a form of self-care.
As I saw a banyan sapling
poking out from a wall crevice,
and it made me happy.
Banyans can be enormous,
but the seeds are tiny.
Maybe a bird dispersed it
into that inhospitable nook.
But by sheer will to live,
the seed germinated,
stole sunlight,
and began growing.
If left alone,
it will thrive,
taking down the building.
That is resilience!

That was extremely powerful. Loved your poem and photo!
What a great trait that we should all have but can be most difficult at times. Good job.
