Removing Romance

Love has a fee, and my heart has paid that price.

i feel like,

maybe i would feel better

without the romance-

i've never won with time and chance,

i can't afford to buy more time,

my heart has paid love's fee one too many times,

and i don't believe in any more than one chance

i've lost and had to find my mind two too many times

there's no charm on the third time, just the last strike

and the fourth was all, and the last harm to come to me in the last of my time

all i have left are my empty hands,

i've wasted far too many of my grains of sand,

and my heart has paid that price-

romance is ruthless

every hope has been fruitless

far too close to dying of thirst not once but twice,

placing bandaids over bruises,

only making more bruises-

not even the worst of luck can be this precise-

i pray to take away my conscious

i'm okay, i promise

i'm not

just leave me be

without the romance

take the feelings too

i'll be okay, I promise

i won't

About the Creator

Josh Morgan

Personally, writing began as a creative outlet, to be a means of processing and venting emotion, but it has become so much more. Something I want not to be just relatable, enjoyable and a good read, but to reach someone who is in need.
