Remembrance
But even as we journey in this time, at this pace,
The somber memories ebb and flow in my space.
Images I watch, some recanted story, a tale untold,
Given to me in my later years, a message to unfold.
Come walk with me along this path,
Where memories’ flowers bloom in the aftermath.
Unspoken words waiting upon my lips,
Unwritten sentences begging at my fingertips.
Come write for me at this time of grief,
Some prayerful passage granting me relief.
For it is today that I remember your face,
In my soul, my heart, my life we’d embraced.
Come sing with me of another time now set in stone,
With its merriment and whimsical comments that are known.
On feathered wings whispers have been sent,
To comfort me in this time of sorrow’s discontent.
I need to hear a voice whispering to still me I pray,
To speak to me of loving and living another day.
But my memories all but consume me as time frays,
Pushing me forward whether desiring to go that way.
Come comfort my heart as only you can do,
Wiping my eyes awash with misery, days have turned blue.
It’s time for encouragement hoping to see me through,
This day of life is filled with emotion amid early morning dew.
