Reigning Desire

Never Enough

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished 4 months ago Updated 4 months ago 1 min read
Noir Art

your secrets are seeds, growing in my field

bearing the rain to be warmed by the sun

wild desire and willing weeds to be pulled

plowing the field until the hard work is done

***

enjoying the harvest, before the fast

politely hoarding and gorging it all

knowing the plenty's unable to last

consuming the fatted calf, till last call

***

when said and done, I push my plate away

the yearning subsides and I am content

no longer hungry I sit back and say

when it suits me, we should do this again

***

we will never tire of our gluttony

because everything is focused on "me"

Oof, this is scathing. But deserved— our world is all to caught up in instant gratification.
