Reflections

A poem about the broken road to rehab and a plea to finally let go.

By Savannaha Klein Published 3 years ago 3 min read

Sad girl, why do you cry?

Sad girl, open your eyes.

Sad girl, you know how you try.

Sad girl, why’d you fall for the lies?

Sad girl, stop your drowning.

Sad girl, he tore you down.

Sad girl, please stop your frowning.

Sad girl, now fix your crown.

Sad girl, why are you drinking?

Sad girl, it won’t help.

Sad girl, can’t you see you’re sinking?

Sad girl, it’s time to deal with the cards you’ve been dealt.

Sad girl, you’re going too far.

Sad girl, the bruises will fade.

Sad girl, get out of the car.

Sad girl, you can be saved.

Sad girl, you’re not sober.

Sad girl, you know you don’t want to die.

Sad girl, you’ll get pulled over.

Sad girl, you’re going to make your family cry.

Sad girl, put down the pills.

Sad girl, you’re breaking your mother’s heart.

Sad girl, the doctors only have so many skills.

Sad girl, you’re lucky they got your heart to start.

Sad girl, this is your chance.

Sad girl, get out of the store.

Sad girl, you’re stuck in a trance.

Sad girl, how’s the bathroom floor?

Sad girl, are you ready yet?

Sad girl, please hold steady.

Sad girl, your life shouldn’t be a bet.

Sad girl, you need to be ready.

Sad girl, no, not one more time.

Sad girl, you don’t need to go out with a bang.

Sad girl, you’re running out of time.

Sad girl, what do you have to gain?

Sad girl, it’s time to get in the car.

Sad girl, all the bags are packed.

Sad girl, you’re about to go far.

Sad girl, you’re finally realizing what your life lacked.

Sad girl, wipe the tears away.

Sad girl, say your goodbyes.

Sad girl, you’re here to stay.

Sad girl, your family just wants you to fly.

Sad girl, no more loneliness.

Sad girl, for once give yourself love.

Sad girl, turns out you’re not hopeless.

Sad girl, you’re all you’ve got when push comes to shove.

Sad girl, you weren’t so clever.

Sad girl, now you’re doing the time.

Sad girl, you knew it couldn’t last forever.

Sad girl, all the heartache you’ve caused is a crime.

Sad girl, you have all these groups.

Sad girl, it’s okay to have hope.

Sad girl, you don’t need anymore continuous loops.

Sad girl, don’t worry they’ll teach you how to cope.

Sad girl, you need to finally open up.

Sad girl, it’s always been a disease.

Sad girl, the people in your past were corrupt.

Sad girl, all of this should put you at ease.

Sad girl, remember the mirror is a liar.

Sad girl, you didn’t deserve all the lashes.

Sad girl, you’ve set yourself on fire.

Sad girl, now rise from the ashes.

Sad girl, it’s time to let go.

Sad girl, you never deserved all the abuse.

Sad girl, it’s time for you to know.

Sad girl, they had no excuse.

Sad girl, you don’t need to drink away the pain.

Sad girl, don’t give them power.

Sad girl, they give you nothing to gain.

Sad girl, you’ve become a sunflower.

Sad girl, no more attempts of suicide.

Sad girl, vodka has never been your friend.

Sad girl, time to let people inside.

Sad girl, they’re the ones who will be there in the end.

Sad girl, time to sit in your feelings.

Sad girl, you need to do whatever it takes.

Sad girl, start new beginnings.

Sad girl, remember the stakes.

Sad girl, they need you back at home.

Sad girl, don’t forget to remember.

Sad girl, that you’re never alone.

Sad girl, now you’re finally ready to surrender.

Sadness never hides in the depths of your eyes. The Sad Girl series follows a true broken path of alcoholism, miscarriage, mental health, shattered relationships, and more. My work contains the brutal honesty that comes with all of it.
