REFLECTIONS

Mirror, Mirror

REFLECTIONS

Mirror, Mirror, on the wall,

Tell me what you see.

Is that gray-haired little lady

Really, truly me?

*

I see lines I don’t recall

Circling my eyes.

This can’t be me, oh Mirror.

You must be telling lies.

*

I never had these jowls before,

And my neck looks rather thick.

I’d like to give you a crack or two!

But I’m afraid, I’m not that quick.

*

Yes, I know I’ve gotten slower,

But it’ just my arthritic knee.

Please tell me, dearest Mirror,

That lady really isn’t me.

*

I’m much too young to look so old.

Dear Mirror, tell me true.

Is what I see the way I am?

Or am I looking back at you?
