how could it be?
her vision so distorted
to have round her shoulders
in shame
and hung her head heavy
in attempt to gain
invisibility
*
from behind I lifted her
delicate chin
and asked her to look
to the mirror again,
and I told her eyes
to see as I saw
the beauty before us,
so precious, so rare
*
with caution she looked
deeply into her eyes
as I explained that they sparkled
from a place authentic and wise,
and I revealed to her there
her own flawless skin
and how her beauty outside
was a mirror for within
*
I watched as tears fell
one after another,
as my love integrated
replacing the cruelty of her mother,
and together we banished
old poisons and fears
from so many who infected her
over previous years
*
although she couldn’t fully believe,
I spoke with a vibration of truth
she was forced to receive,
forced to listen, and to know
how I perceived her beauty,
her angelic glow,
and although she still
wore her shoulders rounded
in words of love
she was now surrounded
