A Frosted Verse

A new winter breathes

the year's first frost

coloring the panes of glass

on wood-framed windows

~

A familiar stillness

plays in the chill

resting with the ghosts

we trapped in these walls

~

Light climbs

the morning sky

revealing the cold

left by the night

~

We wished on stars

but life didn’t stop

hellos, goodbyes

changed like seasons

~

Crystal patterns

spread snowflakes

over trapped green

camouflaging the world

~

Foggy grey floats

in a hazy orange gleam

clouding my visions of

sunny days we spent

~

Drops of frozen dew

cover a sleeping earth

with a blanket of

white powder

~

Memories, maybe regrets

swirl with the way

we forgot to say

so many things

~

Silence sits like

mourners of migrated

birds who took their

songs from leafless trees

~

Truth was a gift

we didn't want

hope was a promise

broken by pieces

~

Just like the first frost

believes it won't melt

love never thinks

it will disappear

~

Neither did we

love poemsheartbreak

Winter’s here, and it’s got me thinking about frosty windows, snowy mornings, and all those “what ifs” we never said. The memories? Bittersweet but kinda cozy, like the first frost—pretty, but it doesn’t last. Life, love, and seasons—always changing, but hey, that’s the charm, right?

  • So many good things about this poem, the imagery. "Truth was a gift we didn't want. Hope was a promise broken by pieces," ...LUV it
