Each step of the way,
You could say.
It was a miracle.
A pregnancy test
revealed positive.
A sonogram is done.
A problem detected.
Twin-twin transfusion
syndrome diagnosed.
Traveling to Ohio
for laser surgery,
surgeons corrected.
Always on the go,
now, doctors ordered
months of bed rest.
After the baby shower,
it was time.
Admitted to hospital
trying to rest.
Deciding
that emergency
Cesarean section
was required.
Premature,
neonatal
intensive care
more hospital time.
Happily, the
twin girls had arrived.
Each step
along the way,
and their birth.
It was a MIRACLE.
Writer's notes: My poem is dedicated to my twin granddaughters.
The laser surgery referred to in my poem is called Fetoscopic Laser Surgery. John Hopkins Medicine has the best information and can be found here.
