Reflected Amidst Flurries
For Holiday Reflections in Verse

Streetlights glow softly overhead
Casting spotlight beams
Upon this wintry stage…
Illuminating a porcelain ballet
With a cast of millions
Caught in a lively production
Of gracefully riotous dancing chaos…
Flakes of cool wintry mystery
Alight upon my shoulders
Melting like my worries
As I stop to breathe
To take in the ambience
Of this season of wonder…
When nature slumbers
Under a blanket of fleece
A dreaming time to reflect
On the promised renewal…
I have gifts to bring home
A kiss for my love
A hug for the children
Presents for the tree … yet
As the snow falls on upturned face
I bask momentarily
Feeling the cold loving brush
Of Old Man Winter’s bracing touch…
Another year almost gone
With so much to regret…
Missed opportunities
When I neglected to say
I love you to my dear ones
When I replied harshly
To a simple query or request…
Yet so much more to cherish
For my blessings abound -
The laughter of my children
The company of good friends
Her beckoning, alluring smile
A glass of warm cinnamon touched cider
A roaring fire in the hearth…
So here I pause for a span
As the flickering spotlight
Beams warmth into my memory
Softly Illuminating what Christmas means…
Love, hope, faith, family, friends
Truly it’s a season of wonder
