Red Thread

The doll

Red Thread
Photo by Nastia Petruk on Unsplash

My seams are made of

Crimson red thread

Running down my sides

Knots tied

At my hips

Continuing down my thighs

Stitches above my kneecaps

To hold it all in place

~

Stain marks on my velvety cheeks

Streaming from beaded eyes

~

White string has sewn together

Rips upon my skin

~

Black marker

In wispy lines

Drawn above my eyes

~

Brown silky thread

In French knots

Scattered from head to toe

~

Golden strands

Fall down my back

To cover up my battery pack

~

With bright red thread

My mouth sewn shut

Where words once were

A tune is hummed

On creaky wooden floors

A chair rocks back and forth

Where spiders weaved webs

In a corner of the room

I find it simultaneously sad and inspiring how open and honest you are about yourself and your experiences with your body and mind. Though I cannot share the same experiences I know how much different how I should feel compares to how I feel. If that makes sense? I always find your work incredibly inspiring too -you use such evocative and immediately relatable language that still sounds musical and poetic. I am truly sorry you feel like this but hope writing, as ever, helps! Well done.

I really like how in touch you are with your body in this one. The crimson red thread was a nice symbol. Love the detail with the french knot. I love the feeling of exploring the ways in which you could write how you interact with pain. I feel like you went to a creative spot in mind. And I like it. It is helping you come up with lines that sound both crisp, satisfying and original. Maybe you slowed down and smelt the dead drooping rose. Then it all was revealed to you. This one makes me want to write my thoughts for days. That's how creatively inspiring it is. 'To cover up my battery pack' my face like this 😲 when I got to this bit. I love the surprise line. Love when author surprise us and think outside the box It's like everything went quiet when I got to the last line. This was beyond outstanding. I am in love 🤗 ❤️ 🖤 👌🏾👏🏾😍 wherever you went, please go back there from time to time ❤️👌🏾
