Red Rose, Blue Ink Pen

A love story

She held a rose of red, long stem.

He read a poem from his blue ink pen.

Down this road from when he met her,

A vow to love her now and ever.

*

From year to year and age to age,

His text the full of each long page,

Of life as one, in sun and hail.

To vow his love, he’d dare not fail.

*

When babe was born and grew of age.

When life did turn yet one more page,

A rose he gave her - red, long stem,

And read a poem from his blue ink pen.

*

Life is fast, as love does know.

As it came near his time to go,

His eyes, they told his love for her,

From now to then and are to were.

*

He held a rose of red, long stem.

She read a poem from his blue ink pen.

On his face, she set a kind, soft kiss,

And did cry for the love she knew she’d miss.

*

A life with no more word from him.

A sad to fill her soul to brim.

He did not want that for his love.

His note, he sent in the coo of a dove.

*

She’d wrap a rose of red, long stem,

In the poem of hers from his blue ink pen.

She’d hold it near until time when,

She will read it when they meet again.
