Red Box of the Queen
For the Queen of our Hearts

You left us during the season change
You have survived all these years
Standing on guard
Of our common country
COVID couldn’t put you off
You were still fighting
Misinformed turbulence
In advance of your government
Delivered everyday
In a red box
Containing all state secrets
Ready to gather all the dust that has settled
On global unpredictability
And affairs of your own family;
You walked hand in hand
With James Bond and the Paddington Bear
The Beatles and the Apollo 11 astronauts
You consoled the families
After the Aberfan mine disaster in Wales
With your wisdom and faith
Wearing your heart on your sleeve
Especially for the kids;
All we’ve got are memories
Over a hundred countries you have visited
Staying as open-minded as you could
Underestimated by many;
Your corgis and dorgis population born and bred
On your kindness, compassion, affection
You were the Mother of us all
We will miss you for generations to come
Because your reign was the longest in history
We couldn’t have done this without you
And you couldn’t live
Without your people
God bless you, the Queen
Of our hearts
There can be only one without a doubt
Replaced by the King
I wonder how he will manage to follow in your footsteps
Will he keep your mood
Cherish the same things
Or fight like any man?
I think we’ll find out quite soon
