Red and Black

A Poem

By Desiree NasonPublished 8 years ago 1 min read

A darkness fades over the soul

The soul screams for help

But nobody seems to answer

Because nobody seems to care

Darkness takes the body

As the body begins to collapse

Nobody seems to notice

Because it isn’t their problem to help

The phone rings but nobody picks up

Maybe their busy

Or maybe I’m a disappointment

Red and black seem to look better and better

But anxiety says to sleep

Does she love me?

Does she even care?

Will I ever make her proud?

Or will I be a disappointed in the clouds?

Left without an answer

Left without a soul

Left in broken pieces

Will the heart ever be a whole?

She was bullied and abused

And decided to take no shit

She got pushed back to the ground

And broke all Hope

They say follow the heart

But is that such a wise thing to say?

The heart can sometimes lie

When it’s broken in a million ways

See now there is a shadow

A shadow of a million pieces

A girl who is broken

But she tries to be beautiful

She’s left with a broken soul

She’s left with a broken smile

She’s left with a broken attitude

But will her heart beat whole again?
