Reasons To Live

a poem

I am living with the sole purpose of discovering

how swiftly the past vanishes

and what lies ahead in the future for me.

Will I see improvement if I exert myself diligently?

If, just this once, no one disturbs my precious plans,

I can lay them all out

in front of me, clear and organised,

and finally find happiness in it.

I shout to the sky, grateful for the way my blessings have manifested.

I have opened a few new doors while closing the old ones,

the ones devoid of opportunities, without any remorse.

Those who took pleasure in my misfortune

will not be pleased to see how I have transformed.

I have become resolute in proving them wrong,

living my life in a way that defies their low expectations

of being fed in a basement, surrounded by rats and rubbish bins.

I discovered that I was the one who was truly needed, not them.

I attempted to prove this, but instead,

I found myself paying them rent and enduring their neglect.

Misunderstandings and a lack of respect

filled our interactions with no happy end.

Their wounds were deep and would never fully heal,

as they had chosen to destroy themselves

and whatever they had once possessed,

it all became meaningless.

Wow, this hits like a storm and then clears up with rays of determination. It's fierce, raw, and brimming with self-discovery! Love how it captures shaking off the past, embracing growth, and standing tall despite everything. Absolutely gripping!😊👏✨
